Answering this question really depends on where you are in your creative life, and how much you resonate with what a creative coach does.
A creative coach helps artists, performers, writers and other creatives alike pursue their craft, meet their artistic goals, reconnect with creative passions, and rekindle that creative spark.
My approach as a Creative Coach involves the following:
Identifying what's holding you back from being where you want to be in your creative life
Setting realistic goals, no matter how big or small
Developing strategies for reaching those goals
Creating fun, rewarding and engaging action plans for pursuing your goals
Deeply exploring your love for your craft; why you want to pursue it and what it means to you
Looking at your life as a whole to see how other aspects of your wellbeing (such as your mood, energy, physical health, and other life challenges) may be affecting your creative pursuits
Finding resources and having discussions that support and elevate your understanding of craft and artistic work
And if you're a writer, my coaching is specialized even further! As a creative writer myself, I can edit written material, consult on story and character development, discuss the craft of writing till the cows come home, and help with publishing. That includes self-publishing, sending out query letters to agents, and submitting your work to literary magazines.
That being said, every client is different and the way I coach one client is never the exact same as another. I tailor my approach to fit the needs of each artist individually.
My only goal as a Creative Coach is to ensure that you obtain a healthy sense of creative fulfilment – whatever that looks like to you.
Are you in a creative rut? What do you usually do to get out of it? Have you ever hired a creative coach?
